Installation doesn't start, InstallShield Error 6002

  Symptom
When you attempt to install HerdMaster the installation doesn't start, you receive the following message:

Error 6002. Please do the following

    - Close any running programs
    - Empty temp folder
    - Check internet connection (internet based setups)

Then try to run setup again

  Cause
The InstallShield installation engine looks for files on the CD called setup.boot and setup.skin (note the 4 character suffix). It is possible for these suffixes to be truncated to 8.3 format (e.g. setup.boo, setup.ski) by some equipment - DVD players are particularly susceptible. This causes the installation to fail.
Note: the above behaviour is inappropriate for a data CDROM drive, you should contact the hardware supplier for rectification.

  Fix/Resolution

If you have another CDROM drive on your system use that.

If you only have one CDROM drive on your system, or other CDROM drives also exhibit the symptom, copy all the files from the CD on to your hard drive, rename the truncated files, and run the installation from there, as follows:

1.

Create a new folder: in Windows Explorer right click on My Documents (or any other convenient location except Program Files), from the File Menu select New - Folder, name the new folder, say, 'Delete' (or any other memorable name).

2. Navigate to the CDROM, from the Edit Menu select Select All, then Copy.
3. Return to the new folder you created in 1. from the Edit Menu select Paste. All the files will be copied from the CD to the new folder.
4. If necessary rename the truncated files setup.boot and setup.skin (right-click each file in turn, select Rename, add the appropriate letter to the file name, then hit Enter or click the mouse outside the rename box).
5. Double-click on setup.exe to start the installation.
6. When the installation is complete delete the new folder and all its files.
